Seventh Sunday of Easter (Year B)

In his last great teaching before his Passion, Jesus expressed the desire in his heart for oneness and unity among his followers, a oneness exactly like that between himself and his Father, which would uphold the truth of his teaching and support the establishment of God’s kingdom on earth.  Well aware of the opposition of worldly attractions, he prayed for protection and consecrates his followers to the truth as he had taught them by his words and actions.

The risen Christ now intercedes for his Church in the same fashion, extending to us his protection and consecration to the truth. With such powerful prayer support and the help of the Holy Spirit, whose coming we commemorate next Sunday, we must remain united in that same truth of love and forgiveness which God so desires for his creation.
