FR ALISTAIR TOSH (3 September 1939 - 18th September 2007)

Fr Tosh was born in Dumfries on 3 September 1939.  He studied at St Mary's College, Blairs and at St Andrew’s College, Drygrange.  Bishop Joseph McGee ordained him a priest on 30th March 1963 in St Teresa's Church, Dumfries.

Fr Tosh served in the following parishes: as assistant in Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Kilmarnock, St Peter’s, Ardrossan and as Parish Priest in St Palladius, Dalry, Holy Trinity, Lockerbie/St Luke’s, Moffat, St Francis Xavier’s, Waterside, St Brigid’s, Kilbirnie and St Mary, Star of the Sea, Largs.  He retired through ill health in Autumn 2004 and lived in the Muirhead area of Troon.  Like many retired priests he was happy to help in parishes throughout the diocese.

A tribute, paid to Fr Tosh on his retirement, can be read on page 7 of the Pentecost 2005 issue of the Galloway News.

May he rest in peace.
