The Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway
In the Gospel of St. Luke Jesus says: if you can be trusted in little things you can be trusted in great. Those involved in finance do not consider money to be a little thing, but in the teaching of Jesus of more importance is the preaching of the good news. That is the great commission that Jesus entrusts to the Church. Of course for the Church to fulfil that mission we cannot ignore the lesser matter of money. The finances entrusted to the Church, though less important than the preaching of the good news, need to be managed and managed well.
The Diocese of Galloway is fortunate to have so many volunteers working with the clergy in parishes, along with the staff in the curial office, who seek to ensure best practice in the handling of finances, thus ensuring that there are buildings suitable for worship, halls available for parish activities, and well managed funds so that the church can achieve its spiritual and charitable aims. I am grateful to all these people, for by taking care of the little matter of money they enable the great work of the Church to be done.
Right Reverend William Nolan, Bishop of Galloway
